About Ubuntu Cape Town FC

Ubuntu Football exists to develop a future generation of committed fathers, positive role models and leaders in our communities. We live in a society in which there is a crisis of fatherlessness: a majority of young South African lack father-figures or positive male role models in their homes.

Our vision at Ubuntu Football is therefore to help address this crisis by equipping young talented footballers to become great leaders in their homes and transformers within their communities.

We strongly believe that healthy people breed healthy families and healthy families breed healthy communities that, ultimately, breed healthy nations.

Our vehicle for developing these young leaders is an elite football development programme. This is, first, because we are passionate about football, but also because there are intrinsic qualities in the game – such as teamwork, discipline, hard work, and excellence – that reinforce the broader objectives of our programme.

And, although the fundamental purpose of Ubuntu Football is to develop leaders and role models, our ambition is to be the leading youth development programme on the African continent. We truly believe in the deep potential of South African football, and also want to play our part in breaking the ceiling that currently seems to be preventing most of our players from realizing their true potential.

In our view, a big part of the challenge is that there is not enough holistic development at a young enough age; not only technical and tactical footballing input, but also proper nutrition, good education, the development of social, emotional and leadership skills, and positive role modelling. This kind of holistic development is at the core of the Ubuntu Football programme.
